Health Science Diploma Optional
The Allied Health Science Diploma is a 12-24 months program that prepared you for a career in a hospital, clinic, or doctor’s office. This program covers the basic health courses (40 training hours) with a specializing of your choice in Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, Medical Administrative Assistant.

Patient Care Technician
Patient Care Technician/Patient Care Assistant: works in a hospital environment under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Students are trained to perform clinical skills such as blood collection, EKGs, catheterization, recording vital signs and patient treatments, and other tasks related to patient care. Patient Care Technician graduates can expect to find employment opportunities in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and placement agencies. To obtain the Patient Care Technician certificate, the student must complete these 4 modules: Basic Patient Care Skills (or current CNA), EKG, Phlebotomy, and Advanced Nursing Skills. This program will take 2-3 Terms to complete.
Clinical Medical Assistant
Back Office Medical Specialist/Clinical Medical Assistants: perform both administrative and clinical duties, reporting directly to an office manager, physician, or another health practitioner. Training will focus on examining room procedures, obtaining vital signs and medical histories, performing routine laboratory procedures, sterilizing and maintaining equipment, and the proper techniques for administering medications as directed by the physician. You’ll also learn to handle administrative duties. In addition to training from instructors with real-world experience, you will also complete an externship in a physician’s office, clinic or related healthcare facility under the supervision of a physician, nurse, or health services professional.
Clinical Laboratory Assistant
Clinical Laboratory Assistant: works as entry-level personnel in clinical laboratory settings such as medical centers, outpatient laboratory facilities, and research laboratories. Trained in all aspects of the Medical Laboratory, including phlebotomy, specimen processing, quality control, and laboratory orientation and regulation, the Clinical Laboratory Assistants serve a diverse ancillary role assisting other laboratory personnel, physicians, and often patients. Their duties may also include computer skills, laboratory billing practices, and the performance of assistant level testing according to standard operating procedures.
Medical Administrative Assistant
Front Office Medical Specialist/Medical Administrative Assistants: perform administrative duties, reporting directly to an office manager, physician, or another health practitioner. You’ll also learn to handle administrative duties. In addition to training from instructors with real-world experience, you will also complete an externship in a physician’s office, clinic, or related healthcare facility under the supervision of a physician, nurse, or health services professional.
Occupational Safety & Health Technician
OSHT help prevent harm to workers, property, the environment, and the general public. They promote occupational health and safety within organizations in many ways, such as by advising management on how to increase worker productivity through raising morale and reducing absenteeism, turnover, and equipment downtime while securing savings on insurance premiums, workers’ compensation benefits, and litigation expenses. Occupational health and safety specialists analyze work environments and design programs to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury caused by chemical, physical, radiological, and biological agents or ergonomic factors that involve the impact of equipment design on a worker’s comfort or fatigue. They may conduct inspections and inform the management of a business which areas may not be in compliance with State and Federal laws or employer policies, in order to gain their support for addressing these areas. They advise management on the cost and effectiveness of safety and health programs.
Pharmacy Technician: works with licensed pharmacists, helping with patient consultations counter dispensing operations and prescription preparation. PT may work in a retail pharmacy, stocking and keeping inventory of prescriptive and over-the-counter medications. PT might also maintain patient medication records, count or pour medications into dispensing containers and manage the cash register. In hospitals, PT could perform many of the same duties but have other responsibilities, including assembling medications for each patient, repackaging medications, preparing commercially-unavailable medications, and delivering medications to patient rooms.
Public Health Specialist
Public Health Specialist promote, maintain, and improve individual and community health by assisting individuals and communities to adopt healthy behaviors. Collect and analyze data to identify community needs prior to planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies and environments. May also serve as a resource to assist individuals, other professionals, or the community, and may administer fiscal resources for health education programs.
